Volunteers Needed at the Long Island Complex!

August 10 @ 9:00 am 12:00 pm

Want to make a difference for Long Island’s wildlife this summer?

The Long Island Complex (LIC) is hosting a series of invasive species removal workdays, and we need your help. By volunteering, you will:

  • Restore native habitats for birds, butterflies, and other wildlife.
  • Improve the overall health of the refuge ecosystem.
  • Learn about local plants and the importance of conservation.

No experience is necessary! Training will be provided on identifying invasive species and safe removal techniques. Tools and equipment will also be supplied.

Join us on Saturdays from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm:

  • July 20th: Wertheim NWR
  • July 27th: Target Rock NWR
  • August 3rd: Wertheim NWR
  • August 10th: Elizabeth A. Morton NWR

Volunteers must contact Biological Science Technician Brooke Shellman to RSVP at brooke_shellman@fws.gov or call 631-289-0485 ext. 2132.

Spread the word! We encourage you to share this opportunity with your friends, family, and anyone you know interested in conservation.
