Bus:

  • Suffolk County Transit-Long Island is served by an extensive network of bus routes. Suffolk County Transit, the public transit bus system operated by a private company, travels the entire county from the Nassau/Suffolk County line east to Montauk and Orient Point, and gives veterans, seniors, students and children discounted fares.
  • Hampton Jitney– Buses to the North and South Forks of Long Island- Pick up and drop off list.
  • First Student Bus Company– Rents school buses for affordable group travel.

Train:

Long Island Railroad– The Long Island Railroad system, the oldest railroad still operating under the same name (since 1834) is also North America’s busiest commuter railroad. Comprised of over 700 miles of track on 11 different branches, three branches service Suffolk County – the Montauk Branch services Amityville to Montauk, the Ronkonkoma services Wyandanch to Greenport and the Port Jefferson Branch services Cold Springs Harbor to Port Jefferson. Long Island Rail Road Getaways– A member of the New York State Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), the LIRR also runs reduced rate getaways to attractions in Suffolk County Long Island, including Calverton Cemetery, LI Wine Tours, Port Jefferson Village/Ferry, Splish Splash water park, a Sunday Brunch Cruise and a trip to the Montauk Village, Golf course and Lighthouse.
